Archeology is a great profession in World of Warcraft. It lets you find out the history of the game, while at the same time making a nice profit and finding some unique items that only archeologists can have. However, the interface and interaction for the profession could certainly use some work. This is where an archeology addon really comes in handy.
An addon is something that you can download in World of Warcraft to enhance your playing experience by modifying the interface. Addons are not against the terms of service Blizzard sets, and in fact, they specifically designed the game to be customizable for all of their players. So you can feel perfectly comfortable getting an archeology addon.

Professor tells you how many fragments you have and how many you need
When you do go out prospecting, be sure to bring plenty of bag space for all the interesting items you are going to find. You do not want to have to travel back and forth between the dig site and town, wasting valuable time. Also, keep in mind that the dig sites you can see are based on your archeology skill level. This means if you have a lower skill level, but are in a higher level area, you probably will not be able to find any dig sites, even if you have an archeology addon. If you have a fresh character, you should level the profession gradually. Ideally, you should have 300 skill points when you hit Outlands, 375 or so when you begin in Northrend, and about 450 when you hit level 80.
You can really see the benefits of having an archeology addon for both locating dig sites and for having easily being able to sort the fragments you find. This was a very basic archeology leveling guide, but hopefully you found a useful tidbit or two. Good luck out with your digging!
